Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - The Scientific Panel on Food Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids and Materials in Contact with Food (the Panel) is asked to advise the Commission on the implications for human health of chemically defined flavouring substances used in or on foodstuffs in the Member States. In particular, the Scientific Panel is asked to evaluate 58 flavouring substances in the Flavouring Group Evaluation 10, Revision 1 (FGE.10Rev1), using the Procedure as referred to in the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000. These 58 flavouring substances belong to chemical groups 9, 13 and 30, Annex I of the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000. The 58 flavouring substances are alcohols, aldehydes, acetals, carboxylic acids and esters containing additional oxygenated functional groups and lactones. The present substance is structurally similar to a metabolite (2-acetylbutyric acid) of a candidate substance (ethyl 2-acetylbutyrate [FL-no: 09.824]).
In particular, the Scientific Panel is asked to evaluate three flavouring substances in the Flavouring Group Evaluation 04 (FGE.04), using the Procedure as referred to in the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000. These three flavouring substances belong to chemical group 2, Annex I of the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000. FGE.04 deals with one branched-chain aliphatic aldehyde, one branched-chain aliphatic acid and one ester of a branched-chain alcohol.
Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of 34 compounds (branched-chain primary aliphatic alcohols/aldehydes/acids, acetals and esters with esters containing branched-chain alcohols and acetals containing branched-chain aldehydes belonging to chemical group 2) when used as flavourings for all animal species.
Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - The EFSA is required by Article 10 of Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food to carry out risk assessments on the risks originating from the migration of substances from food contact materials into food and deliver a scientific opinion on: 1. new substances intended to be used in food contact materials before their authorisation and inclusion in a positive list; 2. substances which are already authorised in the framework of Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 but need to be re-evaluated.
Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - The European Commission asks the European Food Safety Authority for a scientific opinion on the evaluation of the substances currently on the list in the Annex to Commission Directive 96/3/EC5 as acceptable previous cargoes for edible fats and oils. The evaluation should be based on the SCF criteria and the criteria proposed by the CCFO as reviewed by the Panel on Contaminants in Food Chain in 200910 for acceptable previous cargoes for edible fats and oils.
Carcinogenicity_EU_PPP - - - The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) asked the Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (the Panel) to advise the Commission on the implications for human health of chemically defined flavouring substances used in or on foodstuffs in the Member States. In particular, the Panel was requested to evaluate 61 flavouring substances in the Flavouring Group Evaluation 10, Revision 2 (FGE.10Rev2), using the Procedure as referred to in the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000. These 61 flavouring substances belong to chemical groups 9, 13 and 30, Annex I of the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000. The 61 flavouring substances are alcohols, aldehydes, acetals, carboxylic acids and esters containing additional oxygenated functional groups and lactones. The present substance is a supporting substance.
In particular, the Panel was requested to evaluate 63 flavouring substances in the Flavouring Group Evaluation 10, Revision 3 (FGE.10Rev3), using the Procedure as referred to in the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000. These flavouring substances belong to chemical groups 9, 13 and 30, Annex I of the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1565/2000. The present revision of FGE.10, FGE.10Rev3, includes the assessment of two additional candidate substances [FL-no: 09.951 and 10.170]. The flavouring substances are alcohols, aldehydes, acetals, carboxylic acids and esters containing additional oxygenated functional groups and lactones. The present substance is a supporting substance.
Genetic Toxicity - - - The Scientific Panel on Food Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids and Materials in Contact with Food (the Panel) is asked to advise the Commission on the implications for human health of chemically defined flavouring substances used in or on foodstuffs in the Member States.
