in vitro gene mutation study in bacteria - - - The substance (purity not reported) dissolved in ethylene glycol dimethyl ether was tested for bacterial mutations in three strains of Salmonella Typhimurium TA97, TA98 and TA100 in triplicate plates with and without metabolic activation at concentrations up to 5,000 microg/plate. In TA100 strain, both in the absence or presence of S9 fraction, the test substance induced a statistically significant dose-related increase in the number of revertants. A statistically significant increase of the revertants was also observed in TA97 strain only at the highest concentration tested. No increase of revertants was detected in TA98 strain.
