Colorant. Inorganic mineral pigment synthetically produced by calcining a mixture of kaolin, sulfur, sodium carbonate, siliceous matter, sodium sulfate, and carbonaceous matter at temperatures above 700°C. Also known as Lazurite, Pigment Blue 29, and Ultramarine Blue. Imparts a vivid blue hue to cosmetic formulations. Used in eye shadows, foundations, color correctors, mascaras, blushes, and facial powders. Insoluble pigment with no significant migration or dye release.
